Physiotherapy for children?
What's involved?

As well as hands on treatment, advice, guidance and support is offered on how to include regular massage, play and other exercises into your child's daily life aiming to enhance their overall well being and quality of life. Suggestions on appropriate footwear, orthotics (insoles, splints etc.), toys, home and school furniture and where necessary special needs equipment are also offered.

Physio is FUN

A consultation typically consists of an initial assessment of specific physical functions and abilities. The assessment is holistic in nature, taking account of the whole child.

The initial assessment is followed by a discussion about immediate, and long term requirements and a plan for appropriate treatment.

Play constitutes a vital element of each treatment: therapy is FUN!

Techniques employed include:

  • Massage
  • Therapeutic exercises
  • Bobath & Neuro-developmental therapy
  • Mobilisation, stretching and strengthening
  • Posture-education.

Whatever techniques are used in therapy enthusiastic parental involvement at home is essential for optimal long term results.
