Social skills groups address social and emotional skills that impact behaviour, social interaction and learning. The groups provide a safe environment to stimulate the child, to test their behaviour, and to help them develop tools to modify their behaviour.

Skills addressed include

  • Turn-taking
  • Listening and conversation skills
  • Self expression
  • Reading
  • Regulating emotions
  • Working co-operatively
  • Winning and losing
  • Managing challenging behaviour
  • Confidence and self esteem
  • Assertiveness

Children from the age of 4 years will be accepted and grouped according to their skills and age (min 3/max 7 children per group).  A questionnaire will need to be completed which may need to be supported by a 1:1 assessment to determine strengths and needs and suitability for the group programme.

Group programme summary

  • Weekly 45 min sessions.
  • All necessary resources are provided.
  • A summary of the topics covered during each session will also be given to parents.

Costs

The initial 1:1 assessment (45 mins) cost £85. Group session per child (45 mins) cost £60, including all resources.

Dates

Assessments and group sessions take place on a Saturday at the Kiki’s Children’s Clinic. There may be the possibility of group sessions running on a weekday in the future.
